When using Sketch - the sky's the limit as to what you can do with your design. However, we have quickly gathered a few tips for optimizing your design to upload perfectly onto RapidUI.
It is quite important to work clean - using layers Hierarchy, folders, and clear layer names. Having an organized design will make it easier to automatically create correct code - which makes things easier when working in RapidUI.
Every artboard should be uploaded as a separate page. This means that if you upload a Sketch file with several artboards, you will be asked which artboard you would like to use. Only one artboard can be uploaded at a time, but you can always create more pages to your site and upload more artboards.
Blend modes & other effects:
Practically all of the blend modes & effects are supported in RapidUI, yet advanced effects, which aren’t supported in CSS, might look different when uploading your sketch file.
RapidUI does not support folder effects. Instead, use the effects on a specific layer, or merge the folder layers.
If parts of your design don’t look exactly the same way it does in Sketch, try one of these two methods:
- Merge all of the desired layers into a single image
- Export all of the desired layers separately, and upload to RapidUI as an image
Every visible layer will upload to your RapidUI site.
It is better to delete unnecessary layers before uploading your Sketch file. Invisible layers will not appear in your site but do extend the upload time.
Make sure every object on your page has a separate layer. Two objects on the same layer will function as one in RapidUI.
There is no need to upload several photos to the same spot (one on top of the other - usually for sliders, galleries, etc). It will only slow down the upload process and will upload unnecessary photos. Simply use one image, and after turning it into a slider/gallery/etc. in RapidUi, you can easily add the other images.
Make sure to keep all text layers as they are - text layers. Don’t convert them to images or try and change the layer type. If it is not uploaded as a text layer, you will not be able to edit the text.
Your text settings (font family, font size, line height, color, etc) will be copied directly as you set them in Sketch - but can always be changed easily.

You are more than welcome to use any font you wish. It is very simple to upload your own font into RapidUI. Read more in our ‘fonts guide’.
RapidUI is integrated with google fonts, so whenever you use it - the platform will recognize it and automatically use it in your site.
Changes in Sketch
Any changes made in Sketch (after uploading your design to RapidUI) will not be updated automatically. However, there are two ways to upload changes from your design file / upload a new design onto the platform:
1. Upload your file as a whole, and show only the layers you wish to upload (hide the layers you wish to be hidden in the platform)
2. Create a container in the platform - and upload your PSD/Sketch file containing only the new layers.
Here are our links on how to upload another design, and how to add a container.
RapidUI only supports the RGB color model.
